Starting School:

 IHM will has two Reception intakes each year:- at the beginning of Term 1 and Term 3.

Children are eligible to start school at the beginning of the school year if they turn five before 1st May.

Children are eligible to start school in the middle of the school year (Term 3) if they turn 5 on or before 31st October.

       Children starting in Reception in Term 3 will have a minimum of 6 terms in Reception. 

       Children whose birthday falls between 1 November and 31 December are not eligible to commence school before the following year.

The policy of two intakes per year for children starting Reception is based on a strong commitment to continuity of learning based on research and developmental growth of children. Families are encouraged to seek full Preschool entitlement for every child.

Once you have decided to enrol you will need to:

  1. Contact the school on 08 8115 7600, email info@ihm.catholic.edu.au or personally visit the school to make an enquiry and receive an application form. The application form can be sent to you or downloaded from the link below.
  2. Return the completed Application Form with an administration fee of $30-00 to the school, together with copies of birth certificates and Baptismal certificates (where applicable). A confirmation email and receipt will be sent to you once received.
  3. The Office Manager will contact parents or caregivers inviting them to an enrolment interview with the Principal. This will occur when your child is approximately three years of age.
  4. During this interview parents are given an overview of the school, are able to have questions answered followed by a tour. This also provides an opportunity for the Principal and child to meet.
  5. Following these interviews offers of placement are made formally through an ‘Offer of Enrolment’ letter which will be sent to you.
  6. If you wish to accept this offer sign the ‘Acceptance of Offer’ and return to the school with a payment of $30-00 to secure your child’s placement. This $30-00 will be deducted from the school fees when your child starts school.
