Parent Involvement

Parent involvement is warmly welcomed and encouraged.

As a parent or caregiver, you are the most influential factor in how your child views school and its community. You can support your child’s education in a multitude of ways. Your involvement with their learning goes a long way towards your child becoming a capable, resilient and happy adult.

We have plenty of opportunities for parents to assist in the classroom as helpers with reading, spelling, design and cooking, as well as:

  • Inter-school sport
  • Excursions
  • Learner Assistance Program
  • Friends of the Arts
  • Special Days - Harmony Day, Refugee Week, Shrove Tuesday etc
  • Co-ordination Program
  • School Board and Parents and Friends
  • Sacramental celebrations
  • Coaching/managing after school sports
  • Working bees
  • Heart Centred outreach fundraising and support programs such as Caritas, St Vincent de Paul, and Hutt St Centre.

We are always looking for new ways to engage parents, caregivers and families. Please feel free to offer ideas or ask how you can help. Talk to your child's teacher, the leadership team or any staff to offer your support. The school recognises that you are a valuable resource, important to our community and we welcome your participation.

Volunteering at IHM

Volunteers play a vital role in the life of the children at IHM.  We know that children are more successful and resilient when their parents/caregivers /extended family are involved in their school life.

We also have a commitment to you, as a volunteer, to keep you safe and of course, our utmost priority is to support the children.

As part of Catholic Education SA Child Protection procedures, all volunteers must complete a Working with Children Check (WWCC). This can easily be done by completing a form through the Office at no cost.

All volunteers will also need to complete a Volunteer Induction online in order to volunteer at our school.   You can contact info@ihm.catholic.edu.au for further information or inquiries.
